In today’s Gospel, an account that begins with Jesus curing a blind man develops into a story of faith.
The Pharisees, accusing Jesus of sinning by healing on the Sabbath, do not believe that the man’s sight was restored by Jesus. The man audaciously tells them, “If this man were not from God, he would not be able to do anything." They answered and said to him, "You were born totally in sin, and are you trying to teach us?" Then they threw him out.”
Jesus later finds the man and asks him if he believes in the Son of Man. The man replies, “I do believe, Lord.”
The man’s simple but unwavering faith in Jesus is an example for us today, as we exercise our own faith in our daily lives, and dare to have the courage to speak the truth in the face of adversity.
