The Mission Helpers of the Sacred Heart extend heartfelt Christmas wishes to you during this Holy Season.  We are grateful to each of you for your love and support.  As we celebrate the birth of Christ may we encounter anew all God’s gifts of creation.  To paraphrase Henri Nouwen:  our hope is that the witness of God’s love in our lives will give you the wonder and the courage to discover God’s love in yours

We share with you the following Christmas message from Sr. Princess Mary Dawson, MHSH who serves the economically poor in Tuscaloosa, Alabama.

The gospel, on this beautiful Christmas Day, says it all in these well-known words, “Glory to God in the highest and on earth peace to those on whom His favor rests”.

The season of Christmas comes with its own wonder and awe. The birth of Christ is an awakening into the Love of God that breaks into our lives.

We can look around us and see many in need of comfort, love, and recognition. Jesus coming into the world is the light so many hunger for daily. He offers himself in deep, abiding love, not to a chosen few but to all. We are enlivened during this season and may find it easier to see with the eyes of Christ, welcoming all to the table.

Jesus, in taking on our humanity, gives witness to this symbol of the greatest humility. Jesus’ humility is for all a loving model for how to give glory and praise to God as we seek to open our hearts to everyone we encounter.

Let us rejoice in the birth of Christ as we repeat “Glory to God in the highest and on earth peace to those on whom His favor rests”.
