Mission Helpers staff spent some time celebrating Earth Day by serving AWE.
Some of the MHSH staff worked in the garden, pulling weeds, old roots and planting seeds and vegetables. Others organized supplies, sorted clothes and filled bags with food to be distributed in the community.

What is AWE?
Asylee Women Enterprises (AWE) is an non-profit organization that supports asylum seekers, foreign-born trafficking survivors, and other forced migrants as they navigate the immigration legal process, heal from past trauma, and rebuild their lives in Maryland.
AWE was founded in 2011 when Catholic Sisters from eight Catholic communities (one of them being Mission Helpers of the Sacred Heart) and AWE founder, Molly Corbett, came together to provide housing and community to women seeking asylum in Baltimore. While we maintain close relationships with these founding communities, AWE is a secular organization, and our services are open to forced migrants of all genders.
