St. Gertrude loved Jesus heart to heart.
She lived in a cold stone monastery in a war-torn area that became Germany. In the bitter cold and danger, she thought of the love of the heart of Jesus and prayed:
O everlasting summer!
O safe dwelling!
O house replete with all delight!
What is your "heart to heart" prayer with Jesus on this feast day?
One year on the way home from retreat at Faulkner, Sr. Madeline shared her imaginative prayer experience standing at the foot of the cross. When Jesus' body was taken down, she asked Mary if she could touch him.His body felt cold, and his heart was silent. That night she and Mary lay unsleeping in the upstairs room. The apostles had hung a blanket to give them privacy. Jesus arrived. Madeline kept her eyes closed. This was between a mother and son. Mary said to Sister Madeline, "We know you aren't sleeping." Madeline asked Jesus if she could touch him. He was warm. She felt the steady beating of his heart.
Can you feel the steady beating of the Heart of Christ? Do you want to ask Jesus for any graces, any healing, any blessings for family, friends, the Mission Helper Community on this Feast Day?
